Guided tour of a Midleton distillery, to learn all about whiskey and discover an impressive copper still.

All about whiskey, the Jameson in question being the famous bottle of whiskey. It must be said that the visit (75 minutes long) will turn neophytes into specialists who, as soon as they enter, can only marvel at the gigantic copper still that sits in the middle of the lawn (it is presented here as the largest ever built in the world, with a capacity of 30,000 gallons...). The guided tour (also available in French) successively reveals all the stages in the production of this precious beverage.

Visité avec un groupe. Ils ont tenté de nous saouler je crois. :D Nous avons eu une démonstration et dégustation d'irish coffee suivies de la visite guidée des anciens bâtiments avec un guide francophone. Une petite projection vidéo, puis un petit coucou aux alambics, des explications sur le séchage, le meulage, la conception et le choix des tonneaux. Ensuite, nouvelle dégustation de trois whiskys différents, américain, écossais et naturellement irlandais. Puis, à la sortie, nous avons également bénéficié d'une conso gratuite au bar (cocktail whisky gingembre ! yum !) Au final, cela a été une excellente visite, très festive et très sympathique. De surcroît, on découvre réellement la conception du Jameson, de A à Z, c'est très intéressant.

An interesting visit in the distillery, a few kilometres from the pretty town of Cork. Special mention for the workshop tasting at the end of the course... Surprising flavours!
