LIOS-NA-GCON
Circular fort, the only one to be rebuilt on its original site, with defensive walls, underground passageways, replica weapons...
It is the only circular fort of the 30,000 of its kind to be rebuilt on its original site. Defensive walls, a thatched central house, underground tunnels (used to store food) and reproductions of weapons, utensils and clothing from the period give a good idea of what life in a ringfort must have been like in the 10th century.
If you continue along the N71, you can see what remains of Michael Collins' house. You can also walk to Dundeady Lighthouse. Further afield, the village of Glendore is a pleasant stopover.
