cathedral with remarkable bishops' tombstones, now used as funerary steles, to be visited in Kilfenora
Kilfenora Cathedral, dating from the 12th century, houses three bishop's tombstones (13th and 14th centuries) which, because of their vertical position, have become funerary steles. The one at the back is engraved on the stone in an extremely naive way, especially in the representation of the geometric motifs of the habit and the pose of the person. The next one is carved in bas-relief. The last one, on the right of the porch, is of a particularly beautiful stylization, almost Cycladic, in the treatment of the volumes of the body. Superb.
