Away from Galway city centre, this design hotel, conceived by Phillip Treacy (a famous designer of extravagant hats, originally from the city), is defined by its excessiveness, glamour and quirkiness. The rooms are luxurious and spacious, all with magnificent bathrooms. And the spa is a marvel, with a crystal hammam, ice fountain and heated loungers overlooking the Zen garden. Open to non-residents as well, the various bars are a must-see.
