KILMACDUAGH MONASTERY
Monastic site with a remarkable tower, the ruins of the cathedral and a building resembling a military tower, etc.
Five kilometres from the town of Gort, this monastic site (12th to 15th centuries) is scattered to say the least (Mary's Church is on the other side of the road). Over the fields, it is very peaceful and its high round tower, leaning over 30 meters, seems to watch over it. We can also see the ruins of the cathedral, of a building resembling a military tower and of a small church, of which only a section of the façade pierced with two windows offers a view on the stratified Burren mountains, in the distance... Very pleasant bucolic spaces.
