Cemetery of megalithic tombs on the Coolrea peninsula, the largest in Ireland and one of the oldest.
On the small peninsula of Coolrea, near Sligo, the site of Carrowmore is the largest megalithic tomb cemetery in Ireland (over 60 tombs, of which 30 are visible) and one of the oldest (around 4000 BC). The remains to be discovered are essentially stone circles, some of which surround a dolmen. The size of this cemetery indicates a large, sedentary society with well-defined rituals, although these are still often unclear today.

Pour les initiés
Ce site archéologique est à voir pour les personnes spécialistes de la préhistoire car les explications sont peu nombreuses mais le petit musée est très bien fait.
