COW BOG

At the very top of Waterloo Street, one of Derry's friendly sloping streets, crowded with bars, Cow Bog is a bit of a surprise. Here, no Guinness or whiskey, but delicious homemade and vegan cakes, tasty hot drinks with different vegetable milks and homemade coffee. Every day Kerri, the adorable boss, offers a wide choice of cakes baked with love: cheesecake, banana bread, brownies... In her cosy and warm little coffee you feel at home and you could even stay for hours, in peace. The vintage decoration deserves a look, especially on the first floor where you have the impression to go back in time with these old, slightly worn armchairs, these tapestry cushions, these world maps straight out of a 1950s classroom, this record player... Their "veggie breakfast" is a must for Derry. Cow Bog is still not well known to tourists, but the locals make no mistake about it and take their daily coffee break if they don't come for lunch.
