Mater Infirmorum Hospital, commonly known as The Mater, is an acute hospital located in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It provides services to most of North Belfast and South Antrim, as far as Glengormley, Carrickfergus and Newtownabbey. Managed by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, it has 236 beds and was opened in 1883. Mater Hospital offers a wide range of services, including acute hospital care, emergency services and maternity services. It also offers mental health services, diagnostic radiography, general surgery, gynecology, pulmonology, physiotherapy and much more.
