The mountains of Mourne form a magnificent granitic massif at rounded summits in southern Down County between Newry and Newcastle.

Idea of itinerary. From the parking lot of Donard, in Newcastle, count 3 to 4 hours. A hiking trail starts in Donard along the river. You always have to go through it until you reach a stone bridge that you cross to go on to the left. The river is on the right and runs through the forest, forming waterfalls and waterfalls. The itinerary is done all the way up, and it may be interesting to think of putting a bathing suit in its bag to bathe in warm weather in one of the many water deductions that support the road! The route is quite obvious, the only hesitation that can be found where a sign is found indicating "Forest Service Glen River Track" and falling on a paved road. At that point, we need to take the bridge on the right and turn on the left, where there are steps. After 15 a. m. to 20 minutes walk, you will find a sign showing the picturesque circular stone house, built in the nineteenth century, designed to keep the food in ice. The stony path on the right behind the sign leads to it. It is then situated in an extremely picturesque valley, where a river runs vigorously through the rocks, with the backdrop of the mountains of Mourne. A segment of the wall runs along the ridge of the twelve mountains. Why have we undertaken this titanic work? The assumptions made are as follows: prevent the sheep from drowning in the lakes that lie at the bottom of the mountains and give themselves work to do at the time of the Great Famine in order to escape the madness or the debauchery of discarvlement… Turning its back on the mountains, we also have a splendid breathtaking view on Newcastle Bay, which is framed from the sea. dark pine. Passing the Ice House and continuing straight away, we arrive at the foot of Slieve Donard, the culmination point. From there, 20 minutes are still needed to climb it, but the views from here are already extraordinary…

Away from the tourist routes, but to make me as you must roll from Dublin to Belfast, this detour is interesting
Do not miss especially Silent Valley (beautiful well-marked hiking), calm tank, and the famous wall
