ARTIST ALLIANCE GALLERY
A remarkable contemporary art gallery, the largest in Accra, a site created to support and promote art made in Ghana.
Nunga, on the road to Tema, is home to the Artist Alliance Gallery, quite simply the largest contemporary art gallery in Accra. Founded in 1993 by professor and artist Ablade Glover, it aims to support and promote art made in Ghana. On three floors, all kinds of works are on display, from the most contemporary - those by Owusu Ankomah or George Hughes are reminiscent of Jean Michel Basquiat and Willem De Kooning - to the distinctly more traditional: Kente fabrics, African masks, carved furniture and fancy coffins. Must do.
