Fort built in the century, its towers offer a magnificent view of the entire town of Elmina and the port.
Fort Coenraadsburg (or Fort São Tiago da Mina, as it's known in Portuguese) can be seen on the right before reaching Château Saint-Georges. A small Portuguese chapel dedicated to Saint Jago, it was originally intended to protect the castle. It has since been converted into a guesthouse. Built in the 17th century, the fort's towers offer a magnificent view over the whole town and the port. The building has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
