THE ST. GEORGE'S CASTLE MUSEUM
Museum dedicated to the Ghanaian warriors who enlisted in Java to fight alongside the Dutch army from 1842 to 1872.
A very interesting little museum about the Ghanaian warriors who were forcibly conscripted in Java to fight alongside the Dutch army from 1842 to 1872. More than 3,000 of them fought for the Dutch Crown. A section has recently been added on the history of Elmina. It is a recommended complementary visit to the castle itself. You can also take advantage of the opportunity to have a bite to eat in the café-restaurant and to have a look at the museum bookshop.
