BEADS MARKET
Bead market located near the Center for National Culture in Koforidua, a great place to discover unique souvenirs.
The town of Koforidua has always been known for its pearl market. Initially open once a week (on Fridays) in an open field, it was relocated in 2012 in a dedicated place allowing to shelter the traders' stalls and to facilitate the haggling even during bad weather. This new location, close to the CNC(Center for National Culture) was also a way to boost the activity, as traders can now be present in their stores every day. It is however difficult to change habits, but also to make the daily trip for some traders living in more remote places: Thursday - and sometimes Friday - remains the main day of activity. In this market, you will be dazzled by the quantity of beads spread out there. Sizes, colors and shapes are endless. Here as in any market, do not hesitate to negotiate the prices. The idea is certainly not to undervalue the local productions and to buy the goods at derisory sums, but be sure that on their side, the merchants do not hesitate to inflate the prices. You can also learn that it is possible to have your own compositions made, at certain merchants, from the beads that you have chosen. In short, a stop that will fill your eyes and allow you to return home with sparkling, unique and made-to-measure souvenirs.
