The Ashanti Akwasidae festival is celebrated every six weeks in Kumasi. The king is paraded, adorned with all his golden attributes.
The Ashanti festival is celebrated every six weeks, Sunday, in Kumasi. It is held in the palace of Asantehene. This ceremony, organized with great pomp, is the opportunity to see the king, worn on his palanquin and paré all his gold attributes. He receives the tribute of the traditional chiefs and his people. It is a colourful spectacle to see, in the midst of all these awnings and parasols, the singers, trompe players, dancers and tam-tams players celebrating this feast in honour of the ancestors.
