A Hindu celebration in which fire-walkers move over burning embers! A mystical experience!
A celebration of fire from South India, with fire-walkers performing over burning embers. Participants begin a ten-day period of sexual abstinence and meditation prior to the event. During this preparation, Hindu priests begin a spiritual and physical cleansing by applying yellow turmeric to their skin. The ceremony is celebrated in several temples in Fiji, including the Mariamman temple in Suva.
