NAAG MANDIR TEMPLE
A cult site and symbol of the Labasa region, the stone is adorned with necklaces of flowers, strangely taking the form of a snake.
It was a small stone, no bigger than a large pebble, which, by some unexplained phenomenon, grew and grew and grew, until it reached a size of almost 3 metres. Impressed by the miracle, the local Indo-Fijians immediately built the Naag Mandir temple around the stone, 20 km from Labasa. Adorned with necklaces of flowers, watched over by multiple representations of Shiva, the stone, which strangely takes the shape of a snake, has become a very important symbol of the region and a place of worship.
