DES VŒUX PEAK
A place to catch a glimpse of Vanua Levu and the Lau archipelago, and to observe over twenty species of birds endemic to Taveuni.
The route is quite physical, on a stony road where slipping is not uncommon. Gradually, the air becomes cooler and we finally reach the summit. Unfortunately, it's often foggy, so it's rare to get a clear view. If you do, you'll be able to see Vanua Levu and the Lau archipelago. Lake Tagimaucia is not far away, but access to it has become complicated. To see the orchids, you'll need binoculars. It's also from this summit that you can observe the birds of Taveuni, more than twenty endemic species!
