Opened in 1921, this restaurant is an institution for the whole of Trieste, which loves nourishing Eastern European cuisine. Siora Rosa (Mother Rosa), who ran the establishment in the 1930s, used to cook ham legs! Even today, people line up to enjoy simple, tasty dishes: soups of all kinds, tripe, pork and cabbage stew, sausages with sauerkraut and steamed or fried potatoes, as well as fried foods, ratatouille and the famous ham and mustard sandwiches (to take away).

Abbiamo pranzato domenica. Non accettano prenotazioni per la parte esterna, ma il servizio è molto veloce. La tipica pietanza "caldaia" altro non è che un bel piatto di bollito con wurstel (anche sloveni), spalla,lingua e soprattutto un bel prosciutto cotto appena sfornato, tipico! Accompagnato tutto da senape e crauti che potete sostituire con le buonissime verdure di contorno. Veramente tanta varietà e bontà. Personale gentile e veloce.

Ottimo buffet con personale simpatico, efficiente e professionale. Ci siamo accomodati e subito serviti. Il loro baccalà mantecato con polenta è un'estasi per il palato. Non parliamo delle palacinke ricche di Nutella. Ottimo lo schioppettino che abbiamo sorseggiato...ci ritornerò e lo consiglio!!
