GRAND HOTEL DUCHI D'AOSTA * * * * *
A hostel intended to accommodate merchants transiting through Trieste in the 4th century.
A palace with an original history. In the 4th century, an inn was built on the same site to accommodate merchants transiting through Trieste. In 1768, Johann Winckelmann, an archaeologist and classical art historian, was murdered here, causing a great scandal. Today, the establishment is still in a state of excellence. The wellness center, the Thermarium Magnum, suggests the atmosphere of the ancient Roman baths, and the Café Harris is one of the most glamorous in the city.
