MUSEO D'ARTE ORIENTALE
Museum exhibiting works of Asian art spread over 4 floors.
Inaugurated in 2001, in a palace behind the Piazza Unità d'Italia, the museum was built up thanks to rich donors from Triest. The collection of Asian arts is spread over 4 floors, with as many clearly defined sections. The first section introduces the commercial and cultural relations between Trieste and the Far East in the 18th and 19th centuries, the second exhibits Buddhist sculptures, the third deals with handicrafts (textiles, ceramics, porcelain, precious stones), and the fourth deals more specifically with the arts in Imperial Japan.
