ORATORIO DELLA PURITÁ
Building in front of the cathedral transformed into a place of prayer and catechism school
In front of the cathedral. The building was built to house a theater, but the bishop did not approve of this profane activity just a stone's throw from his fief. In 1757, the church acquired it and transformed it into a place of prayer and catechism school. The ceiling fresco is by Tiepolo, a remarkable Madonna from the master's second Udinese period. The artist's son signed the magnificent murals in gold and gray. These decorations, imitating stone bas-reliefs, evoke biblical episodes related to teaching.
