GUARNERIANA LIBRARY
Old public library of the region with old and modern books
It is the oldest public library in the area, opened in 1466 thanks to a parish priest of San Daniele, Garniero d'Artegna, who donated his collection of 173 manuscripts to the community. Today the library is composed of two sections: one of ancient books and one of modern books. Among the masterpieces are a fourteenth-century Divine Comedy by Dante, Petrarch's fifteenth-century Canzoniere and Trionfi , and a thirteenth-century Byzantine Bible decorated with illuminations that blend Western and Eastern inspiration.
