CONVENTO DI MURI GRIES
An old castle transformed into a convent with beautiful cellars in Bolzano.
This ancient château was donated to Augustinian monks in the 15th century. Transformed into a convent in the 19th century, it passed to the Benedictines, who continued the cultivation of the surrounding vineyards begun by their predecessors. Today, the Muri Gries cellars are among the best-stocked in town, producing excellent house wines in white, red and rosé. The lagrein grape dominates the blends, but the reds have hints of schiava and pinot noir, while the whites include local varieties such as pinot blanc and gewurztraminer.
