CHIESA DEI FRANCESCANI
Church of the Franciscans in Bolzano, in Gothic style.
Built in 1221, this church was destroyed by fire in 1291. Its present Gothic form dates from 1348. The extremely bright stained glass windows depict the life of St. Francis of Assisi. Also worth seeing is the adjoining cloister, full of grace with its small columns and what remains of the frescoes of the school of Giotto. Today the monastery is inhabited by Franciscans. Nearby is the so-called Franciscan bakery, which has several shops in town and a beautiful collection of good breads, pastries and delicious sweets.
