CHIESA DI SAN GIACOMO IN CASTELLAZ
Church of the XIII century preserving the oldest cycle of frescoes of the Alto Adige, for a historical and cultural visit.
This small 13th-century church boasts the oldest cycle of frescoes in Alto Adige. In the apse, below Christ in majesty and the apostles, the wall is populated by a fantastic bestiary of hybrid creatures - mermen-sirens, centaurs, bird-men - in combat. In the side aisle, another, more recent cycle of paintings (15th century) depicts scenes from the life of Saint James. A fine historical and cultural visit.
