Founded in 1958, the BJF is Italy's oldest festival dedicated to jazz music. Some of the biggest names in the genre have performed on the Bolognese stage: Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Sarah Vaughan, Ray Charles, B. B. King, Michel Petrucciani... The festival has gained international renown, and every year from the end of September to the end of November, the city's theaters, clubs, streets, bars and schools play host to concerts by the greatest representatives of the Italian and international jazz scene.
