BASILICA DI SAN DOMENICO
Basilica preserving artistic testimonies in Bologna
Built between 1221 and 1233 by the Dominican fathers, it has kept its original façade. The interior preserves artistic testimonies of great beauty. In the right nave you can visit the Chapel of San Domenico, which houses the famous tomb of the saint, a sarcophagus decorated with bas-reliefs that Nicholas Pisano began in 1267, later taken over in the 15th century by Nicolo dell'Arca, and to which Michelangelo gave the final touch. In one of the chapels you can also admire a work by Filippino Lippi entitled The Mystical Marriage of Saint Catherine.
