PALAZZO DELLA MERCANZIA
Gothic style palace called Loggia dei Mercanti in Bologna
This Gothic-style building, built in the 14th century, is also known as the "Loggia dei Mercanti" because of its portico on the façade with two high ogival arches. It was built by the guilds of arts and crafts as an expression of the commercial power of the city, and was the seat of the customs. Its four-poster balcony and geminated bays are made of Istrian stone, highlighted with terracotta friezes. Today, the palace is the seat of the Chamber of Commerce. The official recipes for tortellini and tagliatelle are jealously guarded
