DUE TORRI
Two towers are the symbol of Bologna.
These two towers are the symbol of Bologna. The highest (97.60 m), the Torre degli Asinelli, dates back to the early years of the 12th century. You have to climb 498 steep steps to reach the top and enjoy a superb panorama of the city. Next to it is the Torre Garisenda, 48.16 m high, mentioned in "Song XXXI" of Dante's Inferno. It was commissioned by Filippo and Oddo Garisendi in 1109, but collapsed shortly afterwards due to a landslide. It has to be said that it is leaning seriously (3.22 m of inclination).
