CHIESA DI SANTA MARIA DI CAMPAGNA
Church rebuilt between 1522 and 1528 by the architect Alessio Tramello
The church of Santa Maria di Campagna was rebuilt between 1522 and 1528 by the architect Alessio Tramello, to whom we also owe the churches of San Sisto and San Sepolcro. It is one of the most important examples of the Italian Renaissance. Inside there are magnificent frescoes by the Pordenone (1484-1539), a Friulian artist influenced by the art of Michelangelo and Raphael. A great fresco artist, he is a virtuoso in the creation of trompe l'oeil.
