SAN GIULIANO CATHEDRAL
Cathedral in neoclassical style with a magnificent organ built by Gaetan Callido.
The cathedral of Macerata, the work of Cosimo Morelli, was built between 1459 and 1464 on the site of the previous 10th-century church of San Giuliano. The first religious building in the city, the neoclassical complex has an incomplete facade, the remains of a late Gothic bell tower, and houses the arm of San Giuliano, protector of Macerata, in a silver urn. The magnificent organ was built by Gaetano Callido. It was heavily damaged by the earthquake that hit central Italy in 2016.
