TORRE CIVICA
Municipal tower with a magnificent view of the surrounding landscape.
The work for the construction of the Municipal Tower was started in 1492 by Matteo d'Ancona, continued in the 16th century according to the drawings of Galasso Alghisi da Carpi, a military architect, and finished definitively in 1653. A stele on the base recalls the passage to Macerata of Victor-Emmanuel II. In the past, an ingenious clock with automatons stood on top of it. From its 64 m high, the magnificent view of the surrounding landscape stretches to the horizon. It is not possible to visit it on Mondays.
