CASA LEOPARDI
House-museum with a large library containing over 20,000 volumes.
This house-museum recounts the entire life of the great Recanatan poet, from his work table still cluttered with books to his large library containing more than 20,000 volumes. Described by Musset as a "dark lover of death", Giacomo Leopardi is considered by Italians as their greatest poet after Dante. Coming from the nobility of Recanati, his father, Count Monaldo Leopardi, had one of the most important libraries in Italy. Montaigne 's Essays are often compared to his posthumous diary Zibaldone (literally "tote bag").
