To discover or rediscover the works of Gioachino Rossini, the city of Pesaro organizes a festival every year in August.
Every year, in August, Pesaro celebrates its native child: the composer Gioachino Rossini. For two weeks, operas and concerts take place at the Teatro Rossini and the Vitrifrigo Arena. Created in 1980, this festival has over the years made Rossini's operas better known. The composer was born in 1792 in Pesaro and died on Friday 13 November 1868 in Passy (Paris). His most popular works remain The Barber of Seville, La Cenerentola (after Cinderella), The Thieving Magpie, The Italian in Algiers, The Turk in Italy and William Tell.
