OLIVERIANO ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
Archaeological museum exhibiting a large number of objects distributed in 3 rooms.
If you are visiting Pesaro, you should not miss a visit to this place of memory. Located in Palazzo Americi, a former aristocratic residence, the museum exhibits a large number of interesting objects (2,600 in total) from an Iron Age necropolis discovered in Novilara, located about ten kilometers from Pesaro. Here you will find different types of finds from the Roman period, mainly from the Olivieri collection. You can see marble portraits, glass cups, coins, oil lamps... Also on display are pieces from the necropolis of Novilara (8th-7th centuries), including the famous stele of Naumachia (one of the most fascinating discoveries on display in the museum). Finally, in various sections, you can admire objects from excavations, such as the finds from the sacred grove of Lucus Pisaurensis and the votive stones of Pesaro. Adjacent to the museum, the library was created in the mid-18th century at the request of the nobleman Annibale Olivieri. Today it contains 360,000 books dating back to the 15th century, thousands of books from the 16th and 17th centuries, maps, drawings and engravings and, finally, an important collection of modern and contemporary works. Breathtaking. The museum reopened on December 31, 2022 with a brand new scenography. Enjoy your visit!
