This festival, created in 1962 (Струшки Вечери на Поезијата/Struški Večeri na Poezijata, Mbrëmjet Strugane të Poezisë) attracts poets and poetry lovers from all over the world. France's Yves Bonnefoy, in 1999, and Canada's Margaret Atwood, in 2016, received the "Golden Crown" here. The festival begins on the Poetry Bridge, along Lake Ohrid, with the declamation of Т'га за Југ/T'ga za Jug ("Nostalgia for the South"), composed by Konstantin Miladinov in 1861.
