This 23,500-square-meter pedestrian square (Плоштад Гоце Делчев) is the center of Strumica. Named after the Bulgarian revolutionary Goce Delčev (1872-1903) - considered Macedonian here - it is surrounded by shops, bars, restaurants and public buildings, including the municipal theater. Since 2010, it includes an underground part (road tunnel, parking). On the surface there are several monuments, including the 5.20-meter-high bronze statue of Goce Delčev (1976) and that of the Masked Woman of Strumica (2010), an evocation of the city's carnival.
