ALTERNATIVE BEIRUT
Launched in 2015, Alternative Beirut organizes mainly guided tours by foot or bicycle to Beirut, but also on request to other parts of the country. At the crossroads of a tourist, educational and social project, the visits result from a new approach to the city and tourism. The topics covered include the gentrification of certain districts, changes in socio-economic contexts, urban art, etc., but also the civil war or the 2006 conflict. The walking tour of Beirut lasts 4 hours: it starts at the top of the St Nicolas stairs in Gemmayzeh, and ends in Bab Idriss in the city centre. No reservation, just be present at the start of the visit at the given time: Monday and Friday at 2pm, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:30am.
