Dar el Gemmayzé is one of those timeless addresses frequented by the neighbourhood's regulars. Once inside, it is almost like a large Parisian brasserie, with large tables, comfortable benches, neat decoration and efficient waiters wearing ties and aprons. But the many customers smoking hookahs bring them right back to Beirut. On the kitchen side, the great classics of Lebanese mezze, prepared with fresh products, without much originality, but quality is always there.
