Bakery in Beirut offering gipsy sabanekh and jebneh.
One could pass this bakery several times without seeing it: no sign or name displayed, just a small kitchen open to the street. It is, however, by all accounts the best manakeesh in Hamra. Located between the Moktar café and the Hamandi butcher, just after the Saudi embassy on the way to the Corniche, their speciality is undoubtedly the manouche with sabanekh and jebneh (spinach and cheese). Abu Shadi, the owner, closes and opens to the sandstone of his desires. So don't go too late.
