LE COMMODORE * * * * *
Hotel in Beirut offering a swimming pool, a gym, a terrace and a local, international and Japanese restaurant.
Inaugurated in 1957, the Commodore was one of the first hotels in Hamra. At the beginning of the civil war, it was used as a base camp for foreign journalists and diplomats. Very damaged at the end of the 1980s by the fighting between militiamen, it was completely renovated in 1995. Today, the hotel has more than 200 well-equipped rooms, a swimming pool, a gym, a large lobby bar and 2 restaurants. Cucina serves local and international cuisine with a pleasant terrace overlooking the swimming pool; Benihana is a traditional Japanese restaurant, the first to have opened in Beirut, and the only one in the city to have a teppanyaki (cooking show on a plate). The chef performs acrobatic exercises in front of the guests, which are quite spectacular!
