Adjacent to Phoenicia, this ghost hotel is a painful testimony to the civil war in Lebanon. Grim, sad, partially destroyed by shells, it has never been renovated and is both a "souvenir" and a real "burden" for today's Beirut. Built in the early 1970s, the building housed the Holiday Inn Hotel, offices, a cinema and a shopping centre. During the war, its ownership was fiercely contested by the militia. Its future is in the hands of its owners, some of whom do not want to sell.
