SURSOCK PALAIS
Built between 1850 and 1860 by Moussa Sursock, belonging to one of the oldest families in Lebanon, the Sursock Palace is a little jewel of Beirut. One of his sons, Alfred, decorated the palace with vast collections of Persian carpets, paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries and beautiful pieces of furniture. The palace is not open to the public. You have to be content with a glimpse behind the gates and its portal. It is inhabited by the family of Alfred Sursock's grandson, Roderick. The palace gardens are sometimes rented for events and celebrations.
