Before the closure of the city centre, Maarad Street, with its arcaded alleys inspired by Rivoli Street, had the highest concentration of restaurants and cafés in the neighbourhood. It was recently renamed rue Jacques Chirac, a great friend of Rafik Hariri. Despite the renovation work, Maarad Street has not been able to attract new businesses. Today, only a few establishments remain, despite the events of October 2019. If you walk down the street, you will reach the Place de l'Etoile designed under the French mandate.
