Of the three ports that included Ain el-Mreisse, only Mina al-Fakhoura - the port of pottery - is still in use next to Uncle Deek. Its basin was separated from the sea by the construction of the avenue in the mid-1970s. Since then, small boats have had to use a passage under the road. A little further west, a few straw huts and seafood restaurants allow you to taste the tide of the day. Finally, near the AUB, a small iron staircase leads down to a rocky beach, very popular with students.
