THE OLD SOUK
Famous for its tissages, Zouk Mikael's old souk has developed its architectural qualities. A pedestrian street and small streets, completely renovated in 1988 and 1995, combine many workshops, kiosks, shops and stands. Old Lebanese stone houses open their beautiful wooden portals and present works of all kinds: sculptures, tissages, leather goods… This beautiful ensemble welcomes restaurants with various specialties, which give back to this neighbourhood. The souk also serves as an exhibition of drawings and paintings. This space is calm in the day and very lively in the evening. Coffees, where shisha and trictrac are kings, remain crowded. The view of the sea and the resumption of craft activities (wrought iron and wrought glass) attract many visitors. An amphitheatre has recently been set up and hosts concerts during the Mikael Mikael festival. Zouk municipality has placed on the map of the green green space and is not going to complain!
