ASCENSION À HARISSA
Founded in 1967, a cable car leaves Jounieh in front of the Saint-Louis hospital and leads you to the foot of the statue of the Virgin of Lebanon which overlooks the entire bay.
The climb is impressive, especially since the cabins seem to be lit by buildings built despite any rule. At the foot of the forest, the slope intensifies and we arrive quickly at the level of the funicular platform. The cable is 1 570 m long and the rise lasts 9 min. In total, the difference is 530 m. Once arrived, the cabins have to be dropped to fit into this funny red wagonnet, which allows the large esplanade dominated by the Virgin of Lebanon and the new Maronite Cathedral. We advise you to climb to Hirata by dusk to enjoy the sunset. You can enjoy a drink while admiring the bay of Jounieh.
