ORTHODOX CHURCH AND ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH
At the corner of the Byblos-sur-Mer hotel, a road rises slightly and dominates the creek. The Orthodox Church (built by the Byzantine) was then used to join the beautiful church Saint-Jean-Baptiste (or Saint-Marc).
Built in the middle of the medieval city, in 1115, by the crusaders, this beautiful Romanesque building stands out by its elegant coupole baptistery built on the north side. Unfortunately destroyed partly by the bombing of the English fleet in 1840 and 1857, the facade had to be completely redone. As the church is often closed, you can get the key to the nearby Maronite rectory. Facing the entrance of the church, a small garden and Byzantine mosaics. In the face of the church, a beautiful ochre-coloured building houses the faculty of law which, at any time of the day, animates the neighbourhood of its students.
