IXSIR
Ixsir is a wine estate launched in 2008. It extends over several parts of the country (in Jezzine in the south, in the Bekaa mountains, in Kab Elias near Zahle...), but it is on the heights of Batroun that the main estate and cellar have been installed. The latter was built around a magnificent 17th century building, which has received several international design awards. Free visits are organised every day (in summer, it is better to book so as not to wait). You start with a tour of the vineyard, from which the view is breathtaking, followed by a visit to the semi-buried cellar, and end with a tasting. The estate also has a restaurant, opened with chef Nicolas Audi, a great name in Lebanese gastronomy. The tables are set up in a pretty summer garden, in the shade of the mulberry trees. The prices are quite high, but the cuisine is excellent, and the place is very pleasant. Whether you come for lunch or not, this is an excellent visit from Batroun.
