In Roman times, Batroun had temples and theatres. You will notice the remains of an amphitheatre in the garden of photographer Joseph Jammal. To access it, go back to Rue Principe to the north and turn right at Traboulsi pharmacy. The ancient theatre is 50 m away from the right. This amphitheatre keeps a few slabs forming a half-circle of 40 m in diameter. From the roadside, you can see them. This site is one of the few Roman vestiges of the city. The site, date of 218-222 B.C., would never have been completed. Previously covered with vines, these steps were updated in the 1990 s by the landowner. Also, in 2003, a resident who wanted to build a restaurant at the seaside found 3 m deep in depth, probably a dozen sarcophagi from the Roman era.
